Maine Cooperation #1

THE US-MONTENEGRO BUSINESS COUNCIL BECOMES AN AGENT OF THE AMERICAN STATE OF MAINE FOR MONTENEGRO AND THE WEST BALKANS

MONTENEGRO, A BUSINESS BRIDGE BETWEEN THE REGION AND THE USA

Podgorica, February 13 – The US-Montenegro Business Council (USMNEBC) became the representative of the American State of Maine for Montenegro and the West Balkans. This cooperation was officially recognized when General John Libby, Commander of the Maine National Guard, presented a national flag to Svetlana Vukcevic, Executive Director of USMNEBC, as a symbol of future cooperation.

- We believe that the business cooperation with the USA is a crucial interest of Montenegro, especially in view of our country's current status in both political and military integrations – Vukcevic said. Speaking more specifically about business cooperation, she emphasized that the US-Montenegro Business Council would work to promote the trade and investments between the two countries, and also represent a special business bridge for the region. This moment when this kind of cooperation is established with the State of Maine is also very favorable for the American companies to enter not only the market of Montenegro, but also the one of the West Balkans. Otherwise, the State of Maine is recognized for having an exceptionally successful business environment, and also as a leading center for advanced technologies, financial services, biotechnology and high technology production. It is well-known that some of the best companies of the world have achieved very successful business accomplishments in Maine.

In Montenegro, there is a growing interest for the strengthening of cooperation with the business world. We are very glad about the fact that some positive signals are coming from the American side also. It is proven by this most recent establishment of cooperation between the US-Montenegro Business Council and the State of Maine. In the future, the USMNEBC shall promote trade, investments, capital projects, and also small and medium-size businesses. It also intends to organize an exchange of scientific achievements, as well as some advanced trainings for the personnel from Montenegro in the USA.
